IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENT RELEASE
IN AN EMERGENCY OR DISASTER

In the event of a school emergency or a disaster, such as an earthquake, Rancho Vista School is equipped to take care of your children for up to 72 hours. Please follow these guidelines.

Emergency Release Form (F-1655) Your child will only be released to people listed on this form. Make sure you keep it up to date.

Do not rush to the school. First assess the situation where you are. Take appropriate safety precautions such as checking the gas and water lines. Assess if it is a safe location to return to. No child will be release from the school until everyone is accounted for anyway.

Check first. Turn your radio to the Emergency Broadcast Station (640 on the AM radio dial). If you can, access the internet, check Ed-line and the district web site www.pvpusd.k12.ca.us for instructions. Do not call the school. The phone lines will be needed for emergency communications.

Walk if Possible. It will be the safest and easiest way to reach the school. If you have to drive, do not enter school parking lots or block any street or drive way. Do not turn into Moccasin Lane, but park across the street. This will allow emergency vehicles access and avoid you being blocked in Moccasin Lane.

Picture Identification. All persons picking up children must have a picture ID. Do not rely on school employees to recognizing you. Make sure everyone you list on the Emergency Release Form is aware of this.

Pick Up Location. Students will only be released from the field access entrance on Moccasin Lane which is behind rooms 16 – 20, beside the field. Do not walk through the school or enter the school by any other entrance. This will delay the accounting for everyone on campus and some areas may be unsafe. If the school is evacuated, the evacuation location will be posted at the school entrances. Have your picture ID ready and use the same name for your child as used in the school records.

Contact Information There will be Student Whereabouts Cards available for you to leave messages for anyone else who may come looking for your child, such as a spouse. You can leave details of who collected the child, what time and where you are headed to assist with family reunification.

Medication: No child will receive medication under any circumstances unless a form F-1070 and the appropriate medication has been filed in the health office.

Try your best to be patient and calm. Rancho Vista is well equipped and well prepared to take care of your children. Thank you for your co-operation.
