Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
“Volunteers Enrich Our Children”
The Rancho Vista Elementary School PTA is a non-profit organization comprised of dedicated volunteers who work diligently to provide outstanding and enriching programs that supplement our children’s educational experience. In addition, the PTA provides a vital link between the home and school; keeping lines of communication open through monthly meetings, newsletters and classroom liaisons. Because the PTA is an integral part of the Rancho Vista community, all parents, teachers, students, family members and friends are urged to join and become active members.
Rancho Vista’s PTA provides the funding for educational programs such as Performing Arts Program, assemblies, field trips, grade level enrichment and the Archeological Dig. We also fund the Science Fair, Art Trek, Spelling Bee, Reflections art and literacy program and Reader’s Express reading incentive program. The PTA provides health and safety programs such as Red Ribbon Week, safety and drug awareness, and Yellow Ribbon Week, character building and anti-bullying program. We maintain the school’s emergency preparedness supplies in coordination with the school district and PTA Council, as well as assisting during disaster drills. We also purchase library books, computers for our Technology Lab and laptop computers for classroom use. For our parents, we provide workshops and seminars with key-note speakers. We are very proud of our lovely campus, which we maintain by way of a campus beautification program. Without PTA support, none of these programs would be possible. Rancho Vista PTA is also a major donor to the Peninsula Education Foundation (PEF). The PEF funds our music program, library aide and a portion of our technology aide’s salary.
These programs and activities cost the PTA approximately $100,000 annually. The PTA’s larger fundraising efforts include the Friends of Rancho Vista campaign, Gift Wrap Sale, Fun Run, Book Fairs and our ever-popular, fun-filled Spring Carnival. Other fund raisers are Family Photo Days, Ralphs Community Contribution program, E-Scrip, Box Tops for Education, and a monthly Rancho Vista night at Ruby’s restaurant.
Rancho Vista’s PTA theme for the 2009-2010 school year is “Volunteers Enrich Our Children”. What better way to describe how your participation at Rancho Vista benefits all of its students.
