Participation Agreement & Policies
Rancho Vista Participation Agreement
Rancho Vista Elementary School is a parent participation school. Parent participation is a very important part of our school community. It is a huge benefit to our school and the children love when their parents help at school. All Families living outside the school’s boundaries agree to have an adult volunteer for a minimum of eight hours per month in the school program. These hours may be spent in one or more of the following ways:
- In the Classroom
- At school doing projects
- Creating enrichment programs
- At home with projects from the teacher
- Before or after school hours
- During weekends
- Working at major events
- Campus beautification projects
- Capital improvement projects
- Attending school related meetings
The program offers flexibility to accommodate lifestyles so each family is expected to complete a minimum of eighty volunteer hours per school year. Families with more than one child attending Rancho Vista are not required to volunteer additional hours. Completion of participation hours is required for a family’s continued enrollment of current and future students.
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has jurisdiction over the recording and enforcement of participation hours. Policies may change from time to time as determined by the Principal and the PTA. Hours are submitted each month to the Participation Chairperson. Hours must be recorded no later than 21 days past the close of a reporting period. Hours may not be retroactively applied to a reporting period after this time.
Hours are tallied for each of the following periods:
Sept 1 – Dec 31, 32 Hours Must be reported by January 15
Jan 1 – Mar 31, 24 Hours Must be reported by April 15
Apr 1 – Jun 30, 24 Hours Must be reported by July 15
Jul 1 – Aug 31, May be applied to spring or fall periods as needed
A Statement of Participation is prepared by the Participation Chairperson for the PTA President and the Principal.
- If an out-of-boundary family has not completed the requisite number of hours by the end of any given period, they are given a written reminder and are given referrals for potential volunteer opportunities.
- Two consecutive reminders will result in a written warning with copies to the PTA President and the Principal.
- Three consecutive reminders or five reminders over any period of time will result in a meeting between the family, the Participation Chairperson, the PTA President, and the Principal to discuss completion of the requisite hours needed for continued enrollment of current and future children at Rancho Vista.
